More fun snacks

November 22nd, 2009 by doug

Today marks one month since we arrived in Costa Rica, and we are so thankful for what God has provided. We are also thankful for our many friends and relatives who have prayed for us, supported us, and helped us in many ways.

Many people have commented on our Mamón Chino from last week, and some have asked what other interesting food we eat here. Avalyn has a new favorite snack that is a little bit different, they are called granadillas. Here are some pictures…

This is the fruit as I buy it at the feria (15 for about $1)

To eat, you simply rip open the outside, revealing the pulp covered seeds inside. The appearance has caused this fruit to have the appealing nickname “snot-fruit”

The pulp is gooey and the seeds are crunchy…its an interesting texture but a great flavor.  Avalyn eats it up!

Todays trivia question is this…in Costa Rica where do you go to pay your electric and water bills? The answer will be in our next post.
